Protect Balboa Park — from those who would charge for parking
Re “City ending free parking at Balboa Park called ‘almost criminal’” (Sept. 20): Our beloved Balboa Park is under siege again by charging fees for parking.
In 1871, a historic statement was issued that stated, “These lands are to be held in trust forever for the purpose of a free park land and for no other purpose.”
Balboa Park is a National Historical Landmark District and deserves our protection and preservation.
Keeping Balboa Park magnificent in its second century for the enjoyment of all citizens and visitors is our legacy, and we must strive to uphold our crown jewel without charging fees for parking.
