After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, R. Roger Rowe School has joyfully revived one of its most beloved traditions—the International Fair. Now in its third year since returning, the event continues to flourish under the enthusiastic leadership of Drama Teacher Heidi Moreno, who has spearheaded its return alongside the support of the entire school community, according to a news release.
This year’s fair was the most vibrant yet, featuring 23 host countries and participation from more than 75 students and their families. Together, they shared cultural traditions, food, attire, language, and stories, creating an enriching experience for the school’s K–8 students and families.
The atmosphere was electric with live performances that captivated the crowd. Highlights included the school’s own Advanced Rock Band, a high-energy performance by the UCSD Indian Fusion Dance Team, and the awe-inspiring Chinese Lion Dancers. The Japanese Club from Torrey Pines High School also joined the celebration, offering an interactive origami booth and teaching students basic greetings in Japanese.
With over 300 students, families, and staff members in attendance, the International Fair proved to be more than just an event—it was a powerful celebration of diversity and unity. It continues to be a cherished tradition at R. Roger Rowe, strengthening community bonds and broadening horizons for all who attend, the news release stated.
