UPCOMING CLASSES
Healthy Longevity Class
Monday (weekly) from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Join Dr. Abraham Kim from Synaptic Integrated Medicine to explore health longevity practices incorporating qi gong, acupressure, and tai chi movements. This class will focus on techniques to enhance balance, coordination, energy, and support long term neurological health and resilience. Dr. Abraham will share insights from his expertise in integrated medicine in neurology and longevity practices, offering valuable tips on preventing aging health conditions and optimizing overall well-being. There is a $10 fee per class paid to the instructor.
Movement is Medicine Dance Workshop with Dr. Halbeisen, D.O.
Friday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Join this joyful, physician-led workshop that blends dance, wellness, and self-expression. Designed for all levels, it’s a powerful way to reduce stress, lift your mood, and reconnect with your body. Led by Dr. Anna Halbeisen, a triple board-certified physician in emergency medicine, sports medicine, and neuromusculoskeletal medicine, and a lifelong fitness enthusiast. If you are not an existing patient of Dr. Halbeisen, you must schedule a 15-minute virtual New Patient visit (to establish care and bill your insurance directly). Line Dancing with Heather Leon
Tuesday, Sept. 2 and 16, from 2 p.m.- 3 p.m. In this fun, 60-minute class, you will learn basic line dance steps and choreography. Beginner line dances include Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, and Power Jam. Heather has over four decades of dance experience across many disciplines including jazz, ballet, modern, ballroom, country partner, and line dancing with a B.A. in modern dance choreography from UCLA. She is also a Pilates Master with 30 years’ experience. There is a $20 fee per class paid to the instructor.
Stick Mobility Training with Armand
Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. – 10:50 a.m. Join our last Stick Mobility Training class, led by experienced and certified coach Armand Chery of Joy of Life Pilates & Fitness. Using a specially designed stick, this program improves flexibility, strength, balance, posture, and joint mobility through active stretching, joint mobilization, and strength training. Safe and adaptable for all fitness levels, it’s a great way to support recovery, enhance alignment, and boost movement. There is a $10 fee per class paid to the instructor.
Paint with Alex
Wednesday, Sept. 3 and 17, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Join us in the studio with working artist and educator Alex Schaefer. Learn advanced techniques to further your painting skills. Bring your own artwork and supplies (acrylic, oil, or watercolor) to work with Alex and fellow artists. There is a $20 fee per class paid to the instructor.
Beginner Mah Jongg
Four-Week Series with Grace Decker. Monday, Sept. 8, 15, 22, and 29, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Learn the basics of playing American Mah Jongg according to the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) Rules and Guidelines. Small class with individual attention, hands-on activity and real time play. Learn the tiles, rules, play and strategy. There is a $250 fee paid to instructor and includes a copy of the 2025 NMJL Card.
Ask A Nurse Roundtable: Aging at Home or in Assisted Living?
Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Join Susan Rendler, RN, for a candid Q&A on navigating care decisions as we age—whether staying at home, hiring support, or exploring assisted living options. Susan Rendler is a registered nurse with experience in medical surgery, oncology, and senior living facilities. As a geriatric life care consultant, she helps families navigate the healthcare system and advocates for patients’ rights during times of crisis. Bring your questions!
Nature As Neighbor: Expanding Our Sacred Community with Peter Bolland
Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Join us for a thoughtful discussion on how our understanding of “neighbor” might grow to include all of creation—plants, animals, and the environment that supports life. In the face of climate change, we’ll explore how faith traditions like Christianity can inspire care not just for each other, but for the natural world around us. UCSD is seeking participants for The Women’s Memory Study. You must be female, age 65 or older, and no formal diagnosis of dementia. Results from this study could help develop specialized therapies for both men and women at risk for Alzheimer’s. With study completion, participants will receive a $300 Visa Gift Card. Legacy Society
In 2015, the Rancho Santa Fe Senior Center established the Legacy Society to recognize individuals who include the Senior Center in their will or trust.
