Requiem, part two: 50 years ago, free parking was part of city’s charm
Re “Reader offers a requiem for the San Diego that is no more” (July 24): I completely echo the sentiments of Shoshana Egan on the present parking situation. When I moved to San Diego from the Bronx — last month was the 50th anniversary — one of the unexpected pleasures I discovered was the ability to drive anywhere and not have to worry about finding parking. It was always available and free.
Now, thanks to poor economic planning, San Diego has become another big city mess and we are expected to pay for our leaders’ incompetent management.
