Resident says longtime problems in Mission Valley go unadressed
Councilmembers Stephen Whitburn and Raul Campillo represent the Mission Valley area and promote it as a community where you can live, work and play. Yet they have not done much to keep it safe or clean.
The transient population doing drug deals and setting campfires along the riverbed and under the 163 underpasses on Camino de la Reina and Hazard Center Drive is unacceptable. It is time to clean up their trash as well as mud from past flooding.
It is virtually impossible to walk to either mall or any business in the area when the lampposts in these underpasses have not worked for over 10 years. You are forced to walk on the road, making it extremely unsafe.
What will it take to see some change in our community? I have called the council members’ offices, notified the city’s Get It Done program and even contacted Caltrans — to no avail.
