SBCC: Warming seniors’ hearts with Holiday Gift Baskets, donations welcome

by News Release

Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC), a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization providing information, services and resources to Solana Beach seniors, is preparing for the Holiday Gift Baskets distribution in December. SBCC will assemble and deliver gift baskets to “Solo-Agers” who may be experiencing loneliness due to the death of a spouse or having family members living far away.

SBCC’s mission is two-fold. First, they want to identify mature adults living alone in Solana Beach who would appreciate and enjoy receiving a visit and a Holiday Basket. If you know someone in need, please email their name and contact information to info@solanabeachcc.org.

Second, SBCC is collecting items (list below) to be donated to fill these baskets. The City of Solana Beach is generously contributing their location for collection donations. The following items can be dropped off starting Monday, Nov. 3 at the Solana Beach City Hall, 635 S. Highway 101, between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursdays. The donation drive ends Wednesday, Dec. 10. Note: The City Hall is closed on alternate Fridays.

Items being collected for the baskets include: 2026 calendar, crossword/Sudoku puzzles, hot chocolate packets, holiday mugs, nightlights, jar openers, small packets of Kleenex tissues, ChapStick or lip balm, hand or body lotion, dish towels, eyeglass cleaner, warm, non-slip socks, pens (ballpoint or gel), post-it notes, holiday chocolates or mints, Life Savers candy.

Want SBCC to do your shopping? Send a check payable to Solana Beach Community Connections and mail it to P.O. Box 1723, Solana Beach, CA 92075. Write: Holiday Baskets in the Memo Line. SBCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Questions? Email: info@solanabeachcc.org.
