San Diego Wave fire assistant coach just days before key match

by Ryan Finley

The San Diego Wave have fired an assistant coach, just days before a critical match.

Jack Jensen will not accompany the team to Utah for Saturday’s 7 p.m. match against the Royals. The Wave (8-8-7) are holding onto the eighth and final National Women’s Soccer League playoff spot heading into the season’s home stretch.

Jensen joined the club this season from Norway, where he served as head coach of Molde Fotballklubb. He previously served as head coach of Vålerenga, where he led the team to the Norwegian Championship (2021) and back-to-back Norwegian Cup titles (2020, 2021). He also coached FC Rosengård in Sweden.

“While this was a difficult decision, after careful evaluation, we determined that a change on the coaching staff was necessary as we enter the final stretch of the 2025 season,” said Wave general manager Camille Ashton. “We appreciate Jack’s professionalism and commitment during his time with the Club and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
