San Diego Zoo’s cost is prohibitive for many local families
Re “San Diego Zoo assets at $1B and rising” (Nov. 23): This article states that admittance fees are $66 for 3-11 year olds and $76 for adults. When I was raised by a single mother in San Diego in the 1950s, the only thing she could afford for us to do on Saturdays was go to the zoo, where admission was free for those under 16 and $1 for those 16 and older. This City Council is making it impossible for low-income families to enjoy this beautiful place.
