San Diego police investigating after woman found dead in hotel room

San Diego police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a City Heights hotel room Monday night, police said.

Police were called just before 10 p.m. to the La Cresta Hotel on El Cajon Boulevard near 50th Street, Lt. Chris Tivanian said in a news release Tuesday.

Officers responded and found the 22-year-old woman. She was unresponsive and suffering from trauma to her upper body, he said. She died at the scene.

Tivanian said San Diego homicide detectives were called in to investigate. No information about what led to the woman’s death was released.
