Solana Beach Soccer Club honors players, coaches at annual awards night

The Solana Beach Soccer Club held its annual awards night Dec. 17 at Skyline Elementary School. The awards are given to players and coaches for the fall 2025 season. The Peter Schmid Memorial Sportsmanship Award is for players. The Scott Billington Memorial Award is for coaches, a news release stated.

The club annually awards Peter Schmid Memorial Sportsmanship Award to deserving individual players, and sometimes to entire teams. The award honors the memory of Peter Schmid, a young member of the soccer club who loved the game. The recipients are honored for their sportsmanship. The relative playing skills of the recipients are not a factor in the selection process.

The 2025 recipients are (in no particular order): Summer Rose, Giovanna, Charlotte, Nina, June, Ava H., Frankie, Addie, Zoe, Isla, Ava S., Georgia, Jeremy, Greer, Bodhi, and Margaret.

The Scott Billington Memorial Award honors Scott’s leadership and invaluable contributions made to the community, and, in particular, to the Solana Beach Soccer Club. Scott joined the club’s board in 2007 and served as president from 2009 through 2013. The club presents the award to deserving coaches who are honored for their leadership and selfless enthusiasm and whose contributions honor Scott’s spirit.

The 2025 recipients are: Liam Cohen, Rhys Cohen, Kevin Hoover, Johnathan Boucek, Grant Bostrom, Brent Kline, Laura Hoover and Matt Cohen.
