Speed bumps work much better than costly traffic circles
Re “Carlsbad council to field concerns on traffic circles” (July 27): Carlsbad should learn from other municipalities that installed traffic circles. When they are popular, they are called roundabouts, and when they become not-so-cool, they are called traffic circles. They are very expensive to install and their installation causes major disruptions. To slow down traffic and make roads safer for all, speed bumps are much more efficient at a fraction of the cost. Oh, but that makes too much sense to so-called transportation planners and the City Council members who will lose millions of dollars if the traffic circles are not installed. Sadly, and as usual, greed takes precedence over logic.
