St. Michael’s School to present ‘Moana Jr.’

by Elizabeth Marie Himchak

St. Michael’s School will present Disney’s “Moana Jr.” in four performances next month.

The production features more than 65 students in first through eighth grade, and another 25 on tech crew, according to teacher Shay McKinley. Students have worked on every aspect of the production, including lighting, sound, set construction, makeup, props and stage managing.

The musical is about Moana, a tenacious teenage wayfinder, who is guided by the ocean while on a daring mission to save her people and restore balance to the world.

There will be four performances — 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 and 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 in St. Michael’s Holy Family Center, 15410 Pomerado Road in Poway.

Tickets are $13.50. Buy in advance at tinyurl.com/SMS-Moana. For details, call 858-485-1303 or email theater@smspoway.org.
