Support for keeping Surf Cup Sports in Del Mar

Re “Carmel Valley board opposes elimination of deed restrictions at Surf Sports Park” (July 29): As a parent with three daughters who have played here for years, I’ve seen firsthand what this place means to families.

Surf Sports is where my girls grew up, built lifelong friendships, and learned teamwork. It’s also opened extraordinary doors — two have represented U.S. Soccer youth national teams, one has competed for the Philippines senior national team, and attend Stanford University.

These opportunities began on these fields. Surf Sports provides scholarships for families in need, unites diverse communities, and offers a safe, healthy space for kids. While neighbors’ concerns matter, I’ve witnessed the positive impact on thousands of young people.

Surf Cup Sports should be allowed to continue using these fields for the benefit of all.
