Basic first aid: This public safety workshop offered by the Poway Fire Department offers lessons in basic first aid such as bleeding control, immobilization of fractures and sprains, and burn care from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Fire Station No. 1 administrative offices at 13050 Community Road. Clothing drive: Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a drive-thru outerwear collection from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 in its upper parking lot, 17010 Pomerado Road. Needed are new and gently-used men and women’s clothing of all sizes, such as jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, pants and other warm clothing. Items will be distributed to non-profits serving those living in shelters or are currently unsheltered. Sharpening offered: The Seven Oaks Woodworking Club will sharpen knives, serrated knives, scissors, garden tools and hand tools on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Seven Oaks Community Center, 16789 Bernardo Oaks Drive in Rancho Bernardo.
