Twitch is arriving in real life in San Diego for TwitchCon Oct. 17-19

by Carlos Rico

Thousands of livestreamers will be making their way back to the San Diego Convention Center for TwitchCon 2025.

TwitchCon is a three-day conference, similar to Comic-Con International, but intended for streamers and fans of watching livestreaming content, such as video game competitions. Twitch, owned by Amazon, is a digital platform that plays host to live streaming in categories such as music, art, lifestyle, special events and sports, allowing fans to watch media produced by their favorite creators and brands, as well as interact with them (and each other) with live chats.

TwitchCon brings together Twitch community members and the general public to meet other livestreamers, attend interactive workshops, hear industry leaders, play video games and go to a block party. This year it runs Oct. 17 to Oct. 19.

TwitchCon and the San Diego Convention Center are in the second year of a five-year deal, and about 30,000 attendees are expected. Direct attendee spending totaled $34.573 million last year, according to the San Diego Convention Center Corporation.

For those who are not familiar with TwitchCon, here are the basics on what it is and what to expect at this year’s convention.

What is TwitchCon?

TwitchCon is similar to Comic-Con, but targeted toward livestreamers. There are various streaming meetups, gaming events, live esports, workshops and panel discussions, parties, an exhibitor floor, an artist alley, keynote speeches from Twitch executives and special appearances from popular streamers.

This is the convention’s 10th anniversary. TwitchCon was previously in San Diego in 2024, 2022 and in 2019, when roughly 25,000 people attended per day.

Who attends?

TwitchCon is open to all ages and is designed for livestreamers to attend. The TwitchCon website says non-streamers are also invited, including livestream viewers, software developers, and those who are curious about Twitch’s platform. A person who is 13 years old or under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and have a signed consent form.

How to get in

Tickets are still available for the public to attend TwitchCon at twitchcon.com/san-diego-2025/tickets. Tickets will be sold on a first-come basis until it sells out, according to TwitchCon. There is no deadline to buy a ticket.

Prices range from $159 for a single-day Sunday ticket to $169 for a Friday or Saturday ticket. Three-day passes are $249. Children ages 6 to 12 years can get into Sunday’s session for $60, and kids younger than 5 can attend for free all three days of the convention.

The TwitchCon Block Party on Saturday costs an additional $125 to attend.

Workshops

There are more than 25 interactive workshops scheduled at this year’s TwitchCon. There is a wide range of streaming topics covered, such as improv classes for creators, skincare tutorials, dance applications and gaming tips.

There are also educational workshops in TwitchCon’s creator camps. Some of the discussions include monetization techniques, building a storefront business, turning streaming content into real-life events and experiences, and collaboration success stories for growing streamers’ brands.
