Volunteers needed for San Diego Police Department’s Northwestern Division Volunteer Patrol Program

Looking for a great way to support your community? The San Diego Police Department’s Northwestern Division is seeking men and women to join its Volunteer Patrol program.

The Volunteer Patrol teams assist Northwestern Division officers in providing a greater level of safety and support for the communities of Carmel Valley, Pacific Highlands Ranch, Torrey Highlands, and Sorrento Valley. The teams regularly patrol neighborhoods, shopping centers, provide vacation home and security checks, perform welfare checks for homebound residents, and assist officers with traffic control and parking violations, according to a news release.

The teams also participate in community events, and sponsor first-aid programs for local schools and recreation centers. The services performed by the Volunteer Patrol team allow police officers more time to focus on higher priority issues that better serve and protect the community.

Being a member of the Volunteer Patrol Program is a great way for residents to support local communities, stay engaged, meet new people, and make a difference. Prior law enforcement experience is not a requirement. The Volunteer Patrol Program’s volunteers come from all walks of life and contribute their life experiences after receiving on-going training. All patrols are scheduled according to your availability and schedule.
