A 33-year-old woman from San Diego was arrested in the suspected stabbing of a man who died Saturday morning at the Escondido Transit Center, Escondido police said.

According to detectives, Kandilaria Freeman was arrested and then booked at the Vista Detention Facility on a murder charge and placed on a “No Bail” hold for a probation violation.

Escondido Police Department Lt. Joshua Langdon said the victim appeared to have been stabbed near the platform of the transit center. The identity of the man has not been released but he was described as being about 60 years old.

Officers responded to a call at 8:02 a.m. and attempted life-saving measures. A crew from the Escondido Fire Department arrived shortly afterward and transported the victim to Palomar Medical Center where he died.

Langdon said investigators searched through parking lot surveillance video of the incident, adding that the victim and a woman arrived together at the transit center at 700 West Valley Parkway.

Further details about what led to the stabbing are unclear and the investigation continues.

Investigators have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to call the Escondido Police Department at (760) 839-4722 or Detective Greg Clark at (760) 839-4450, referencing case 25007498.
