Woman dies in suspected hit-and-run on North Harbor Drive
San Diego Harbor Police are searching for clues and asking for the public’s help after a woman died on North Harbor Drive late Friday night in a suspected hit-and-run.
Officers say the pedestrian was found about 11:30 p.m. with severe injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle. First responders initiated lifesaving measures, but the woman died at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not yet been determined.
Harbor Police said the driver fled the scene before officers arrived on the westbound lane of North Harbor Drive, near the intersection of Laning Road.
Based on preliminary evidence, traffic investigators say the vehicle may have sustained front-end damage from the collision.
Investigators urge anyone who witnessed the incident or may have relevant information, dashcam footage or surveillance video to contact the Harbor Police Traffic Investigation Unit at 619-323-9786 or submit an anonymous tip through San Diego County Crime Stoppers at sdcrimestoppers.org.
Inquiries regarding the identity of the victim should be directed to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
