Woman on scooter killed in crash identified as Ramona resident
Authorities have publicly identified a woman who was killed last weekend when a car struck the mobility scooter she was riding on a dimly lit thoroughfare in Ramona.
Kathleen Mess, 76, of Ramona was heading north on Main Street about 4:55 a.m. Sunday when a 2014 Toyota Camry hit her motorized three-wheeler from behind near Julian Street, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office and California Highway Patrol.
The impact ejected Mess onto the roadway. She died at the scene of the crash.
Intoxication was not a causative factor in the crash, CHP Officer Jasmine Lopez said.
