21-year-old man arrested in fatal National City shooting
A 21-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of a victim who was found on a National City sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Francisco Cervantes was arrested in connection with the death of 54-year-old Clifford Ransom II, who was gunned down Saturday on West 8th Street, underneath Interstate 5, around 5:45 a.m., Detective Sgt. Mark Segal said.
Ransom died at the scene, Segal said.
Cervantes was arrested by police just after midnight on Thursday, according to investigators.
The relationship between the two men and the circumstances leading up to the shooting were not immediately available.
