6-year-old boy dies after struck by hit-and-run driver in Chollas View
San Diego police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 6-year-old boy Saturday as he was trying to cross a street in the Chollas View neighborhood, authorities said.
The collision occurred as the child crossed University Avenue mid-block around 6:50 p.m. The driver, who was heading west on University when the vehicle struck the boy, did not stop, police said.
The vehicle was last seen heading north on 54th Street. A description of the vehicle was not released.
The injured boy was rushed by ambulance to a hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. His name was not released.
Investigators are looking for witnesses and surveillance video that might have captured the collision, said police Officer Sarah Foster.
