Del Mar Foundation’s first DMF Talk of new year set for Jan. 15
The Del Mar Foundation’s first DMF Talk of the new year will take place on Jan. 15, and will feature Richard Kiy, president and CEO of the Institute of the Americas, discussing “U.S. Foreign Policy in the Americas Amidst Changing Geo-Politics and a New World of Disorder.”
Kiy will examine the evolution of U.S. foreign policy in the Americas from the Monroe Doctrine’s 19th-century assertion of hemispheric influence to current regional policies under the Trump administration, including economic nationalism, tariffs and reciprocal trade, immigration and border security, and muscular security postures in the Caribbean. Kiy will discuss the impact of such policies on relations with this country’s regional neighbors in the context of today’s shifting geopolitical landscape, the complexities of globalization and China’s growing influence in the Western Hemisphere, according to a news release.
This free event will take place on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Del Mar’s Town Hall. Wine and light refreshments will be served from 6 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., and Kiy’s presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event will conclude at 8 p.m.
To ensure enough refreshments and seating for all, DMF requests those who plan on attending to RSVP online at delmarfoundation.org/talkrsvp.
