Encinitas Chamber of Commerce honors first Rising Stars of 2025–26 school year

The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce kicked off the 2025–26 school year by recognizing three outstanding local high school seniors from the San Dieguito Union High School District at its first Rising Star of the Month breakfast, held Sept. 3 at MiraCosta College’s San Elijo campus, according to a news release.

This year’s inaugural honorees were:

Jake Selecky, Canyon Crest Academy: A leader in ASB, School Site Council, and president of Nova Spero, a tutoring club for refugee students. Jake has also guided new students through CCA’s Raven JumpStart program, coordinated a lifesaving blood drive, and competed on the varsity lacrosse team.

CCA Principal Brett Killeen called Jake “a model for his community and someone we are very proud of,” in the news release.

Justin Lee, La Costa Canyon High School: An academic standout who also shines on stage and in athletics, Justin is recognized as a talented actor, singer, and athlete. He has also contributed to LCC’s MavNation class, building school spirit and culture.

“In all he does, Justin demonstrates a contagiously friendly demeanor,” said LCC Principal Justin Conn, in the news release. “He is a true role model.”

Lluvia Del Angel, San Dieguito Academy: A first-generation college-bound student, Lluvia is president of both the Hispanic Latinx Student Union and AVID Club, as well as a senior director at SDA. She excels in AP coursework, uplifts her peers, and is a passionate traditional dancer who has performed at major venues.

“Her resilience, leadership, and strong character make her a true inspiration,” said SDA Principal Cara Dolnik in the news release.

The Rising Star program celebrates high school seniors in the San Dieguito Union High School District who embody character, integrity, love of learning, and community involvement, the news release stated. Honorees are recognized monthly throughout the school year, with all Rising Stars invited to apply for scholarships that will be awarded at the Chamber’s Salute to Education event in May 2026.

The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce partnered again with MiraCosta College ~ San Elijo this school year which is host and sponsor of the monthly breakfasts. Families, school officials, elected representatives, and community leaders joined the chamber in applauding these students’ achievements.
