Love Your Library: Rancho Santa Fe Library offers Halloween fun, educational activities and more

This time of year isn’t scary at the Rancho Santa Fe Library, it’s bootiful! Make sure to schedule in Halloween fun as well as educational activities. From book clubs to holiday parties, the library has it all.

Art Display by RSF Art Guild

Through Nov. 21The Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild hosts an art display called “The Holidays.” The exhibition will be in the Media Room at the Rancho Santa Fe Library, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Coffee & Conversation: Richard Lederer’s Halloween Humor

Thursday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m.San Diego Oasis Presents Richard Lederer, “A Treasury of Halloween Humor,” for the Rancho Santa Fe Library’s Coffee & Conversation event. This popular author and San Diego Union-Tribune columnist will share history, lore, jokes, puns, poems, and funny verse about Halloween.

Local Author Talk with Diana Silva

Saturday, Nov. 1, 10:30 a.m. to noonMeet Diana Silva also known as Molé Mama, as she shares her book, Abuelita’s Magical Molcajete. There will be a drawing for a free copy of her book and a free cooking lesson for one lucky attendee. She will have books available for purchase and can sign them for you.

Writers Group

Wednesday, Nov. 12, 12:30 p.m.Are you competent, diligent, and amiable writer of fiction or narrative non-fiction? Then join your friends at the library as they meet to discuss the creative process, mechanics of craft, and representation and happenings in the publishing world. This meeting happens every second Wednesday of the month.

Book Club

Friday, Nov. 14, 1:30 p.m.James McBride’s Deacon King Kong is the subject of discussion on Friday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m. Pick up your copy at the branch or download a copy on the Libby app. This group meets every second Friday of the month.

Boogie and Boo Concert with Hooray Miss MaraeWednesday, Oct. 22, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.This dance party for toddlers and preschoolers is packed with silly puppets, cheerful songs, and endless smiles!

Creepy Crawlers: Cold-Blooded Animal Show

Tuesday, Oct. 28, 3 to 4 p.m.Join the Ecovivarium Reptile Sanctuary for our interactive “Creepy Crawlers” program designed just for kids. You’ll get up close with snakes, lizards, and more to uncover the incredible secrets of these cold-blooded creatures!

Baby Boo Bash Halloween Party

Thursday, Oct. 30, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.Join us for a spook-tacular celebration just for babies and their caregivers! Enjoy a costume parade, play stations, baby-friendly crafts, music & movement, and plenty of photo ops.

Regular Weekly Activities

Chair Yoga

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:45 a.m.Join us for some gentle chair yoga with Silver Age Yoga. Space is limited to 25 and is on first-come first-served basis.

Meditation and Mindfulness

Wednesdays, 10 a.m. (No class Oct. 29.)Discover simple, effective ways to reduce stress and bring balance and happiness into your life. This special program is limited to 20 participants.

American Flag Drop OffIf it’s time to retire your American Flag, please drop it off at the library. There is a drop box and your flag will be treated with respect.

Battery Drop Off at LibraryThe Rancho Santa Fe Library is a safe place to dispose of small batteries, including A, AA, AAA, C, lithium (with taped covered ends), cell phone and other small batteries. Do your part to stop pollution by bringing this toxic trash to the library. The drop-off program is in partnership with Universal Waste.

Seeds and SustainabilityThe Rancho Santa Fe Library is a seed library too! Come by to pick up two free seed varieties that you can take home and plant.
