Major sports arena should be built near county’s population center
Re “Midway Rising’s $3.9B plan for San Diego’s sports arena site advances” (Sept. 26): It made sense to build the Sports Arena where they did 59 years ago in 1966 — a large vacant plot of city-owned land, etc. Today, according to SANDAG, the population center for San Diego County is near Mira Mesa. It is foolish to even consider building any such facility in Point Loma today. It should go somewhere near the population center, and then those who wish to attend Disney on Ice once a year can do so without commuting through Point Loma on surface streets to get there, exacerbating its already “routinely congested traffic.”
