Past 4 champions commit to play in Farmers Insurance Open

The past four champions are among the early commitments for the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, which this year returns to its customary Thursday-Sunday schedule. The event will be played Jan. 29 to Feb. 1 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla.

Reigning Farmers champion Harris English, along with former champions Matthieu Pavon (2024), Max Homa (2023) and Luke List (2022) all have committed to the tournament. Two-time Farmers champion Brandt Snedeker (2012, 2016) and San Diego natives Charley Hoffman and Michael Kim also are entered.

English, who is 13th in the current world rankings, had a 1-stroke victory over Sam Stevens last year for his fifth PGA Tour victory and a $1.67 million paycheck. The win jump-started one of English’s best seasons on tour. The Georgia native finished second in both the PGA Championship and British Open and played on the U.S. Ryder Cup team for the second time.

Pavon recorded his first tour victory with his win two years ago. Homa is still looking for his first tour victory since the Farmers win, which was his sixth on tour. The Farmers title also represented the first tour win for List, who added the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship. Snedeker is a nine-time winner on tour.

Kim is a Torrey Pines High School graduate who is currently 36th in the world rankings. He is making his 10th start in the Farmers, while Hoffman (Poway High School) will be playing in the event for the 28th time.

The Farmers had a Wednesday-Saturday format the past four years to avoid competing for TV viewership with the NFL’s conference championship games. This year’s Farmers again falls on the week between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. It’s a spot the Farmers enjoyed for decades before the NFL added a 17th game that pushed its schedule one week later.
