Power outage hits Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla tower
A power outage struck Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla’s North Tower on Friday evening after San Diego Gas & Electric experienced an electricity supply issue in the area.
The outage began at 6:24 p.m. and affected the tower that treats general acute-care patients, according to hospital spokesperson Keith Darcé. Backup generators immediately activated, and SDG&E restored normal power at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Hospital operations continued without interruption during the outage, and no patient care issues were reported, Darcé said.
