San Diego police arrest suspect in fatal City Heights shooting

San Diego police have arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting a man believed to be homeless Tuesday in City Heights.

Keith Rose, 72, was arrested by San Diego police officers on Friday near Filipo Street and El Cajon Boulevard. Rose is accused of fatally shooting Mark Tome, 52, of San Diego late Tuesday night near 43rd Street and Polk Avenue.

According to San Diego police, Rose lives directly across the street from where the shooting occurred.

Officers responding to the shooting found Tome suffering from at least one gunshot wound late Tuesday night in the west alley of 43rd Street between University Avenue and Polk Avenue, police said.

He was transported to a hospital but could not be revived. The relationship between the two men is unknown, police said.
