San Vicente Resort holds flag day ceremony to honor local veterans

Nearly 50 people gathered at the San Vicente Resort for the Veterans Day Flag Ceremony, a tribute to those who have served the country.

Carl Weise, San Diego Country Estates Association general manager, opened the Nov. 11 event with heartfelt remarks, followed by six local veterans participating in the flag ceremony: Bryan Taylor, Cathy Knowles, Robert Krysak, Robyn Bolitho, Jesus Maya and Charles Oswalt.

Dave Casterberg performed the National Anthem, and four Boy Scouts from Troop 679 led the Pledge of Allegiance. The ceremony concluded with a prayer from the Rev. Kristie Grimaud, pastor of Ramona United Methodist Church and Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church.

Participants included Ramona and San Diego Country Estates residents, SDCEA employees, and first responders from the San Diego County Fire Protection District and Station 81 in Ramona.

After the ceremony, participants continued the celebration in the Par Lounge with a champagne toast in honor of the veterans.
