Some cities burn trash for electricity, so why not San Diego?
Re “Plastic in your green bin? Batteries in the trash? City inspectors are checking San Diegans’ garbage for compliance” (Nov. 11): Rather than following Sacramento’s mandates to do this or that with trash, why not process trash by burning it and generating electricity? Many cities — including Minneapolis; Vienna; Osaka; Paris; Copenhagen; Shenzhen, China; and Malmö, Sweden — do just that. San Diego needs to lead and help solve California’s power demands for AI data centers, instead of having city employees spend their mornings lifting lids while the Miramar Landfill continues to fill up!
