Terminal 1: Where’s Trolley? Where are solar panels?

by U T Readers

Re “San Diego airport’s spacious new terminal opens fully to the public” (Sept. 23): With the fancy new Terminal 1 at our San Diego International Airport, I can’t help but wonder about the glaring thing that is missing. Where’s the San Diego Trolley? I can’t believe that no one thought to tie all the Trolley lines to the new state-of-the-art, amazing Terminal 1, making the airport more accessible to everyone in San Diego. Go figure!— Bob Davis, Normal Heights

As we gush over the new Terminal 1 at SAN, may I point out a glaring omission in the design?  Solar panels on the parking structures. Not only are there no solar panels on the multi-acre structure, there is no conduit or infrastructure to support future solar panels. What a bizarre oversight. Solar panels were added at great cost to the flat parking lots at SAN, so somebody must realize their benefit. It will cost exponentially more to add them to the Terminal 1 parking structure in the future.  Such a poor decision.
