The Social Diary – Major Las Patronas cash splash at The Marine Room

by Margo Schwab

The Jewel Ball South Sea gala of 2022 continued its wave of support as organizing Las Patronas members gathered at the seaside venue The Marine Room to hand out major checks to major beneficiaries. This year’s recipients included the Alpha Project for the Homeless, the American Red Cross, Feeding San Diego, and my animal favorite, San Diego Humane Society. SDHS will receive a new vehicle! Checks handed out totaled $367,139. The remainder of the $853,468 will go to minor beneficiaries.

So as the waves splashed The Marine Room windows, guests enjoyed a splash of wine or water, and a stellar Marine Room menu by chef Mike Minor including choices of Signature Maine Lobster Bisque, Pan Seared Sea Bass with Ancho butter sauce and quinoa, and a wicked good Organic Lavender Lemon Cake. Ooh, la la! Some of the fun ones there included Jeanne Larson of The Collector Fine Jewelry and Erin Preuss of the Preuss School at UC San Diego.

Cover shot flashback, a shout out to supporting local. I am dressed in Lizz Russell custom skirt, top and accessories, and our dog Red Carpet KIMA is dressed in Jemima Dutra custom using vintage Versace material. FYI, Jemima Dutra is the key designer for the Lamb’s Players Theatre. Check out Margo Schwab on Insta and FB for more event photos as well as insightful tips cooking to social. Til next time!
