CALIFORNIA DISABLED VETERAN PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION

In 2026, California disabled veteran property tax exemptions are increased: the basic exemption rises to $180,671, and the low-income exemption (household income less than $81,131) rises to $271,009. The exemption applies to a principal residence for veterans witha 100% srevice-connectd disability rating, an unemployable rating or those who are blind/lost use of limbs.

- Basic Exemption (No income limit): Reduces assessed value by $180,671;

- low-Income Exemption: Reduces assessed value by $271,009 if annual household income is below $81,131;

- Eligibility: Must be 100% disabled, rated 100% by the USDCA, or paid at the 100% rate;

- Unmarried Surviving Spouses: Qualify if the veteran was eligible or died from a service-connected injury;

- Filing Deadline: Claims shoud be filed by February 15th, for the new year, though late files may receive 85% of the exemption;
