Two men killed in separate crashes identified
Authorities have publicly identified two men who were fatally struck by cars in recent days.
Binh Hoang of San Diego was walking across Meadowlark Drive in the Birdland neighborhood, east of Kearny Mesa, when a vehicle hit him shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 29, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
Paramedics took Hoang to nearby Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, two days after his 76th birthday, the agency reported.
About 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Michael Figueroa, 40, was struck by an eastbound Ford Mustang as he was sitting on a center median at College and Oceanside boulevards in Oceanside, according to police and the medical examiner.
Figueroa died at the scene of the accident. Intoxicated driving was not believed to have been a factor in the fatality, police said.
