Better schools would lead to a nation with fewer problems

by U T Readers

When people complain about issues in America, they are usually complaining about one thing: people’s minds. Yet they don’t talk about the institutions where those minds are shaped anymore: schools. Instead, they say the rhetoric needs to change or we need to pray.

It used to be police would say the amount of work they had depended on how good the schools were. Why do we no longer point to schools as something that could fix social problems? It’s like complaining that a car isn’t running but not talking about the engine. We complain about all these minds but don’t discuss the state of schools that propel these minds. I wonder if we had the best schools in the world how that would affect all of our problems. I wonder if all class sizes were small what kinds of minds would be produced in them.
