Clean Energy Alliance announces Solar Plus Business Program
The Clean Energy Alliance has announced a partnership with San Diego-based Luminia for a Solar Plus Business Program aimed at commercial, industrial, municipal and school district properties across CEA’s seven member cities, according to a CEA news release.
The partnership, which is designed to expand the installation of solar and battery storage systems or standalone battery storage systems, was approved by the CEA Board of Directors last November, according to the news release.
Eligible properties can host all the necessary equipment at no cost up front, according to CEA. Luminia would pay for the equipment, then CEA buys the power and delivers it to customers.
“Our partnership with Luminia taps into one of the most underused resources for local clean energy — commercial properties — making it easier for North County businesses to participate in our clean energy transition,” said CEA CEO Greg Wade in the news release. “This program is a win–win for the region: businesses save money and earn new lease income, residents gain a more resilient grid and we make meaningful progress toward our community’s clean energy and climate goals.”
The goal of the program, the CEA announcement added, is to “provide long-term energy cost savings and back-up power for local businesses while advancing regional clean energy goals.”
The CEA currently serves residential and commercial customers in Del Mar, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista.
“For years, Luminia has been deeply committed to making solar and storage more accessible for commercial property owners,” said David Field, CEO and co-founder of Luminia, in the news release. “Partnering with CEA allows us to deploy our platform and experience so North County businesses can benefit from a simple, no upfront-cost program that lowers operating expenses and strengthens local resilience. We’re excited to help deliver these benefits here and, over time, to other communities seeking practical local clean-energy solutions.”
