Estates HOA board announces new president, general manager

by Regina Elling

A new president and general manager were announced at the San Diego Country Estates Home Owner’s Association’s Dec. 16 board meeting.

The positions were vacant after former general manager Carl Weise stepped down and former board president Jeff Wells resigned during the Nov. 18 closed session of the board.

Taylor will remain president until the next round of elections, set for April 2026. There are three seats to be filled in April.

“I’m looking forward, along with the rest of the board, to serving our community in a respectful and positive way,” she said.

Pete Smith, interim general manager, announced that Matt Brumbaugh, head golf pro at the San Vicente Golf Shop in the Estates, would be taking over the general manager position beginning Dec. 17.

“I will give 100% and learn as fast as possible,” Brumbaugh said to the crowd at the meeting. “I’m going to give my heart and soul to this place.”

His remarks were met with loud applause from the audience.

Smith said the general manager position was challenging to fill because it required a “unique skill set.” The board determined an “internal option was the best thing to do,” he said.

An announcement of the two resignations came in a letter to the Estates’ homeowners published in the SDCE Valley News on Nov. 28.

Taylor said at the time that Wells gave no reason for his resignation at the November meeting, and that Weise was not fired, but stepped down by mutual agreement.
