Padres minor: Another busy day for Will Wagner, Alex McCoy homers in Storm loss

Will Wagner filled up the box score in Triple-A El Paso’s 10-9 loss to visiting Oklahoma City.

The newly-acquired infielder went 2-for-3 with three walks, a stolen base and two runs scored while playing third base.

Wagner, 27, is hitting .400/.500/.500 with a triple and three RBIs in five games since he was acquired from the Blue Jays for Double-A catcher Brandon Valenzuela.

Tim Locastro (.769 OPS) hit his fourth homer, Mason McCoy hit his 10th homer and Nate Mondou (.812 OPS) drove in four runs on two hits.

Center fielder Tyler Wade (.698 OPS) went 1-for-5 with two RBIs, a walk and a run scored in his first game since he was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso.

Left fielder Tirso Ornelas (.778 OPS) went 0-for-5 in his return from plantar fasciitis.

Infielder Mike Brosseau (.666 OPS) was released before the game.

Left-hander Jackson Wolf (4-2, 6.13 ERA) allowed seven runs on nine hits, including five homers, in 3⅓ innings in the loss.

El Paso is 61-50.

Springfield 2, Missions 0: RHP Eric Yost (1-1, 1.46 ERA) struck out four and allowed two runs—one earned—on five hits and three walks in six innings in the loss. Singles from DH Albert Fabian (.819 OPS), 3B Marcos Castañon (.762 OPS), C Oswaldo Linares (.297 OPS) and CF Wyatt Hoffman (.406 OPS) were San Antonio’s only hits.

 

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (50-55)

South Bend 8, TinCaps 5: RHP Isaiah Lowe (5.65 ERA) allowed four runs in five innings in the start and LHP Bodi Rascon (0-2, 7.71 ERA) allowed four runs—one earned—in 2 ⅓ innings in relief. RF Braedon Karpathios (.804 OPS), DH Lamar King Jr. (.620 OP.614 OPS) and 1B Jack Costello (.614 OPS) all had two hits.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (48-58)

Rancho Cucamonga 9, Storm 3: DH Alex McCoy (.850 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits, including his fourth homer and third double. C Yoiber Ocopio (.945 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a walk. RHP Maikel Miralles (2-2, 4.60 ERA) allowed six runs in three innings in the start.

 

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (18-29)

Dodgers 5, Padres 4 (7): CF Cristian Benavides (.613 OPS) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. 3B Endy Rios (.706 OPS) went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

 

ROOKIE DSL GOLD (31-16)

Padres 3, Red Sox 2: RHP Miguel Alvarez (2.48 ERA) saved his second game with two strikeouts over two perfect innings. RHP Raymel Belliard (2.75 ERA) struck out three over four scoreless innings in the start. LF Eduarlin Tejeda (.817 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits, including a triple. SS Jhoan De La Cruz (.803 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a double.
