Padres minors: Another homer for Luis Campusano, Truitt Madonna debuts
Another day, another home run for Luis Campusano.
It just wasn’t enough for Triple-A El Paso, which lost 4-3 in 10 innings on Tuesday.
Campusano’s blast was his 22nd, tops in the Padres system. He is hitting .329/.440/.625 with 75 RBIs in 82 games.
Center fielder Tyler Wade (.794 OPS) hit his first homer and first baseman Nathan Mondou (.819 OPS) hit his fourth.
Right-hander Alek Jacob (4-1, 4.76 ERA) allowed two runs in 1⅔ innings to take the loss.
Left-hander Kyle Hart (4.26 ERA) threw to scoreless innings in relief after right-hander Logan Gillaspie (6.57 ERA) allowed two runs in four innings in the start.
El Paso is 67-53.

Storm 9, Stockton 5: 1B Kale Fountain (.608 OPS) hit his second homer and walked. C Carlos Rodriguez (.872 OPS) went 1-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. SS Jorge Quintana (.507 OPS), CF Ryan Wideman (.836 OPS), RF Kavares Tears (.672 OPS) and C Truitt Madonna (1.000 OPS) all had two hits. Tears and Madonna had doubles, with Madonna’s coming in his professional debut. Madonna was drafted in the 11th round last month.
ROOKIE DSL BROWN (20-35)
Padres 11, Red Sox 3 (7): OF Jose Bericoto (.626 OPS) drove in three runs on three hits, including a triple and a double. 3B Endy Rios (.697 OPS) went 3-for-4, C Angel Mejia (.627 OPS) had a triple and CF Sebastian Pena (.585 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double.
ROOKIE DSL GOLD (39-17)
Padres 10, Guardians 7: C Isaac Ponce (.819 OPS) drove in three runs and hit his sixth homer. SS Jose Verdugo (.942 OPS), 3B Eduarlin Tejeda (.838 OPS), LF Santiago Contreras (.866 OPS) all had two hits. Verdugo, Tejeda, Contreras and RF Eddson Martinez (.844 OPS) all had doubles.

- 3B Eguy Rosario (sports hernia surgery) is beginning a rehab assignment at high Single-A Fort Wayne.
- Double-A San Antonio and Fort Wayne were rained out and will play doubleheaders on Wednesday.
