Padres minors: Jackson Wolf flirts with no-no, DSL Gold advance
Jackson Wolf took a no-hitter into the eighth inning Friday, leading Triple-A El Paso to a 12-1 win at Sacramento.
The left-hander ultimately gave up a run on two hits before exiting after 7⅔ innings. He struck out eight and allowed a walk and a hit batter in improving to 6-2 and lowering his ERA to 5.51.
Right-hander Sean Reynolds (3.48 ERA) recorded the final out of the eighth and right-hander Bradgley Rodriguez (2.84 ERA) allowed a walk and a hit before getting out of a scoreless ninth in his first action off the injured list (shoulder).
Catcher Rodolfo Duran (.818 OPS) hit his 10th homer, doubled and drove in three runs.
Third baseman Mason McCoy (.810 OPS) went 1-for-1 with three RBIs, three walks and three runs scored. First baseman Will Wagner (.790 OPS) went doubled in three runs.
El Paso is 68-55.
Note
Right-hander Humberto Cruz is considering options after sustaining a UCL injury that will end his season. Cruz, 18, went 0-for-3 with a 6.97 ERA, 20 strikeouts and a 1.40 WHIP in 20⅔ innings at low Single-A Lake Elsinore since a promotion from rookie ball (8.31 ERA, 17 ⅓ IP).
Cruz is ranked No.3 in the Padres system by MLB.com.

Lake County 5, TinCaps 3: RHP Isaiah Lowe (3-11, 5.65 ERA) allowed five runs — one earned — in four innings in the loss. LHP Bodi Rascon (6.81 ERA) threw three scoreless innings. SS Jonathan Vastine (.630 OPS) went 3-for-4 with a double. LF Kasen Wells (.648 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a double.
LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (52-66)
Stockton 3, Storm 0: A double from C Carlos Rodriguez (.895 OPS) doubled for Lake Elsinore’s only hit. SS Jorge Quintana (.478 OPS) went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. RHP Maikel Miralles (2-4, 5.17 ERA) allowed three runs in 4⅓ innings in the loss.
DSL POSTSEASON
Padres Gold 12, D-backs 4: The Padres won a second straight game to advance out of pool play and into the semifinals. RHP Johan Minaya walked five but allowed a run in 3⅓ innings in relief in the win. 3B Eduarlin Tejeda drove in two runs on three hits. SS Jhoan De La Cruz drove in two runs on two hits, including a double.
