Padres minors: Yonathan Perlaza sets new RBI high, progress for Bradgley Rodriguez
Right fielder Yonathan Perlaza added to his system-best RBI total, driving in four runs and homering in Triple-A El Paso’s 9-8 loss at Reno on Wednesday.
Perlaza’s home run was his 15th of the season. His four RBIs pushed that total to a career-high 88, three more than his previous best. Perlaza also singled, raising his batting line to .298/.389/.5050 through 111 games.
First baseman Nate Mondou (.827 OPS) went 2-for-5 with his fifth homer and second baseman Tyler Wade (.828 OPS) went 3-for-5 with a walk and a run scored. He also stole two bases, giving him eight on the season.
Designated hitter Luis Campusano (1.059 OPS) went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk and center fielder Clay Dungan (.793 OPS) went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, a run scored and his 26th steal.
Left-hander Wes Benjamin (6.16 ERA) allowed five runs — two earned — in four innings in the start.
El Paso is 67-65.

SS Jose Quintana (.504 OPS) went 0-for-3 with two walks. 1B Kale Fountain (.605 OPS) went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

- RHP Bradgley Rodriguez, who is on El Paso’s injured list with shoulder inflammation, will join El Paso this week in Sacramento. Rodriguez made his MLB debut this year. He is ranked No. 6 in the Padres system as ranked by MLB.com.
- RHP Jesus Castro, the younger brother of El Paso reliever Manuel Castro, will get the ball to start Game 1 of the DSL division series on Thursday. The Padres’ gold affiliate (39-17) is the No. 2 seed.
