Ramona Lutheran School: Former students, teachers and families reminisce, reconnect
About 50 people including former students, dedicated teachers and staff, as well as supportive parents and grandparents gathered Nov. 2 at Ramona Terrace to reminisce about Ramona Lutheran School and share updates on their lives.
It was far more than a nostalgic get-together. It was a glimpse of the enduring impact of Christian education in Ramona.
The event was filled with laughter, shared memories and conversations from the heart reminding us of roots planted at Ramona Lutheran whether a child attended one year or 10.
As a parent attending, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. The teachers poured into our children not just how to write the alphabet, memorize math facts and write powerful paragraphs, but that God hears their prayers, calls us to forgive and walk in the truth of the gospel.
It’s impossible to measure the full impact of the school. How can you quantify the ripple effect of a teacher who can explain to a child why Good Friday is good even though Jesus died on that day?
Or model to a junior high student that justice must be balanced with mercy and humility? Or to explain the difference between true peacemaking versus the peace-faking and peace-breaking we see in the world?
These educators didn’t just prepare children for the next grade. They prepared them for life.
Lessons learned at Ramona Lutheran School – by students and families alike – have gone far beyond the classroom. Seeds of wisdom, compassion, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and more continue to bear fruit in the lives of countless individuals.
To every teacher, staff, pastor, volunteer, groundskeeper, yard duty supervisor, PE instructor, parent, grandparent, church member who has been involved with the school since it opened nearly 50 years ago – thank you. Your faithfulness has shaped generations.
And to every student, teacher, staff, parent, grandparent who attended Sunday’s reunion – your presence was a reminder that Christian education in Ramona remains alive and thriving – in your lives.
This gathering was the brainchild of three longtime Ramona Lutheran School teachers. There is already talk of next year’s reunion with the same simple objective – just to reminisce and reconnect.
