by Ryan Finley

Award week continues for Anders Dreyer.

San Diego FC’s star forward was named to Major League Soccer’s Best XI for the 2025 season, one day after being named MLS’ Newcomer of the Year.

The team, announced Wednesday, also includes forwards Denis Bouanga (LAFC) and Lionel Messi (Inter Miami CF); midfielders Sebastian Berhalter (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Evander (FC Cincinnati) and Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders FC); defenders Tristan Blackmon (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Alex Freeman (Orlando City SC), Jakob Glesnes (Philadelphia Union) and Kai Wagner (Philadelphia Union); and goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair (Minnesota United FC).

St. Clair was named Goalkeeper of the Year, Blackmon was Defender of the Year and Freeman was named Young Player of the Year.

Dreyer, a native of Denmark, has been the breakout star for San Diego FC during its historic inaugural season. Dreyer finished the regular season with 19 goals and 19 assists; his 38 total goal contributions are tied for the most in MLS history by a first-year player. With Dreyer leading the way, SDFC recorded the most wins (19) and points (63) by an expansion team in MLS history.

SDFC takes on the Portland Timbers at 6 p.m. Sunday in Game 3 of the best-of-three first-round playoff series.
