Scene: Vision of Children Foundation

by San Diego Union-Tribune

The Vision of Children Foundation last month hosted its biennial “A Night for Sight” fundraising concert, featuring rock icon Jefferson Starship, at The Sound at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

The event raised more than $625,000 toward finding cures for hereditary childhood blindness and genetic vision disorders.

The evening was themed “Out of This World.” It began with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a gourmet three-course dinner, live auction and a performance by Jefferson Starship.

Marian Benassi, Courtney Liddy, Kirstjen Nielsen and MJ Wittman co-chaired the event. Sponsors included Premium West Construction, Inc., Courtney McDonald-Liddy with The Liddy Group at UBS Financial Services, Inc., Ron and Maureen McMahon Family, and Robert Barth and Nicole Frank.

Vision of Children’s mission is to cure hereditary childhood blindness and genetic vision disorders and to improve the lives of visually impaired children and their families.
