Suspected DUI driver arrested after one dies in Carlsbad crash
A 33-year-old man was arrested after an early-morning traffic collision on Saturday in Carlsbad killed one person
Philip Webb of Oceanside was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter, the Carlsbad Police Department said. Webb will be booked into the Vista jail.
According to police, a Subaru crossover hit a Nissan pickup truck shortly before 5:20 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of La Costa Avenue and Piraeus Street. The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan died at the hospital.
The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Police identified Webb as the driver of the Subaru, adding that alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
