Suspicious death of a woman in Rancho Bernardo being investigated
Police are investigating what they called the “suspicious death” of a woman discovered Monday afternoon outside her vehicle in Rancho Bernardo.
Officers responded to a call received around 2:36 p.m. Monday regarding an unresponsive woman on the ground of the Westwood Club parking lot at 17394 W. Bernardo Drive, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police said the victim was lying next to her vehicle, bleeding from the head. Medics responded, but despite life-saving efforts she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Based on the unexplained injuries, the death was determined to be suspicious, and the homicide unit was notified,” police said in a press release.
Detectives on the scene were interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area for security video, police said. They will be working with the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the nature of her injury.
