Unseasonably hot weather to last into Monday night in eastern San Diego County

by Gary Robbins

The unseasonably hot weather that arrived in eastern San Diego County last week will last until Monday night and be followed by sharply cooler temperatures, the National Weather Service said.

The air moving through the region also will be a bit unstable on today and might produce lightning in the local mountains, which represents a wildfire hazard in a region that has received less than half of its seasonal rainfall.

Forecasters say daytime high temperature in eastern foothills and mountains will be 85 to 99 degrees today and Monday. Desert temperatures will rise to 111 to 113 degrees.

Local beaches will be cooler than normal. The marine layer will be 1,300 feet deep both days, limiting sunshine. Cool onshore winds also are expected.
