Work on Solana Beach Pavement Rehabilitation Project underway

by Luke Harold

Asphalt pavement repairs and resurfacing began in Solana Beach Oct. 6 as part of the annual Citywide Pavement Rehabilitation Project, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of January, the city announced.

“The project is scheduled to occur in several locations throughout the City,” according to an announcement from the city. “Please use caution while traveling through the construction zones and keep an eye out for any construction traffic and detour signs put in place.”

From Oct. 20-23, Lomas Santa Fe Drive from Highway 101 to Solana Hills Drive will undergo resurfacing for the asphalt pavement for the entire street. Work will take place at night “to minimize disruption to the community.”

According to the city, additional work this year includes localized pavement repairs throughout the city, repainting faded traffic striping at certain locations, adding buffer bike lanes along Lomas Santa Fe, upgrading traffic signals to video detection along Lomas Santa Fe west of Interstate 5, and possibly installing speed cushions at to-be-determined locations.

The estimated cost is $2.5 million, according to the city.
